Is Recycling The Planet a Non Profit organization?

Yes, Recycling The Planet is a not-for-profit organization, and our primary goal is to establish the first-ever ocean plastic economy, promote the latest technology, generate job opportunities, and raise awareness of the effects of waste in the ocean. Our organization relies on the support of individuals and organizations to fund our operations and achieve our goals.

How are the products made?

The process of making products out of recycled plastic bottles or other recycled plastics typically involves the following steps:

Collection and Sorting: The first step is to collect and sort the plastic bottles or other plastics from the ocean that will be recycled. The plastic is typically sorted by type, color, and grade.

Cleaning and Shredding: Once the plastic has been collected and sorted, it is cleaned and shredded into small flakes or pellets. The cleaning process involves removing any labels, caps, or other materials that are not plastic. The shredded plastic is then washed to remove any remaining contaminants.

Melting and Extruding: The next step is to melt the shredded plastic flakes or pellets down in a furnace or extruder. The melted plastic is then extruded through a die to create long, thin strands of plastic called filaments.

Spinning and Weaving: The filaments are then spun into yarn, which can be used to create a wide range of textiles, including towels and backpacks. The yarn can be woven into fabric using various techniques.

Molding and Injection: For products such as frisbees or other plastic items, the melted plastic is poured into a mold and then cooled to create the desired shape.

Finishing: Once the product has been molded or woven, it may be finished with additional processes, such as cutting, sewing, or printing.

Overall, the process of making products out of recycled plastic bottles or other recycled plastics is similar to the process of making products from virgin plastic. The key difference is that the plastic used has been recycled rather than newly produced, which can help reduce the amount of plastic waste in the environment, We;re Recycling the Planet One Bottle at at Time!

How Does purchasing our products help the enviroment?

When you purchase one of our products, you’re not just taking pounds of waste out of the ocean, rivers, and coastlines. You’re also helping to support our entire global ocean cleanup operation by funding critical elements such as new equipment, cleanup crews, facilities, development of new ocean cleaning technologies, recycling advancements, product innovation, awareness-raising tactics, advocacy efforts, and more.

Besides that our products are made or recycled plastic mostly from the ocean, that will help to reduce plastic pollution in a BIG way

It’s worth noting that cleaning up the enviroment is no small task, and it requires a significant amount of effort. With your support, our crews can journey to areas affected by plastic pollution, retrieve the waste, bring it back to our facilities, sort and cleanse it, and recycle it for future use.

By purchasing our products, you’re also playing a key role in restoring ecosystems and safeguarding marine life by preventing them from ingesting or becoming entangled in plastic debris.

Together, we can make a meaningful impact and bring an end to the ocean plastic crisis.

What Do we do with the trash ?

All the waste we collect during our ocean cleanup operations is brought back to our facility, where it undergoes a rigorous sorting and weighing process. Any items that we’re able to recycle are either processed in-house for use in our current and future products, or are sent to local recycling partners in each community.

At our South Florida location, we make every effort to ensure that we minimize our impact on the environment. To this end, anything that we can’t recycle is taken to the Solid Waste Authority, which is one of the most efficient and lowest-emission facilities in the entire country. There, the waste is converted into energy, which helps to reduce our carbon footprint and lessen the impact of our operations on the environment.

By partnering with recycling facilities like the Solid Waste Authority, we’re able to ensure that as much waste as possible is diverted from landfills and is instead put to good use, whether it’s through recycling or energy generation.
